Poll Results
The 1998 tour poll was open for voting for the last three weeks of January 1999. An average of 3,505 people participated in this poll, which was set up so that (theoretically) you could only vote once. Thanks for voting and here are the results:1. Favorite show of the 1998 South Pacific tour
Response Votes % Graph Commentary Maui I (2/20/98) 279 11.90% Obviously, not that many Aussies voted, judging by the fact that the 3/5/98 show, the most widely circulated Australian show, was at the top of the list, and the fact that the Maui shows came in next on the list. Where were you, Aussies and Kiwis?! 2. Favorite show of the 1998 North American tour
Response Votes % Graph Commentary Missoula (6/20/98) 69 1.77% The second most popular question in the poll, with almost 4,000 votes represented! No huge surprises here, but we're very surprised the excellent LA Forum shows didn't get more votes. 3. Favorite opening band
Response Votes % Graph Commentary Shudder to Think 32 0.97% Talk about a landslide: the excellent and well-deserving Ben Harper won this poll hands down, followed by Mudhoney, Cheap Trick and Iggy Pop. But, c'mon - the Wallflowers over Frank Black?! Rancid and Hovercraft also received a surprising amount of votes considering that they only opened one city respectively on the tour. Our apologies for leaving Hayden out of this listing. 4. Favorite track from Live On Two Legs
Response Votes % Graph Commentary Corduroy 330 8.33% The most popular question of the poll. Obviously, whatever "Untitled" turns out to be, most people would like to hear it on the next record! "DTE", the excellent version of "Black", "Fuckin' Up" and "Corduroy" were next, with "Off He Goes" not far behind. We're not surprised at the low turnout for "Better Man", but are you all really that tired of "Go"? 5. Favorite (or most memorable) "tour controversy"
Response Votes % Graph Commentary Rodman onstage in Dallas 407 11.61% Okay ... so maybe this was obvious. And it wasn't supposed to be an exhaustive listing of everything that happened on tour, just the things we recalled heated email going around about. 6. MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the 1998 tour
Response Votes % Graph Commentary Jeff Ament 91 2.48% While we're sure Mister Pickles is damn flattered, the fact that he placed higher than Jeff or Stone seems kind of - ridiculous?! (Of course, the other half of the mail we got about this kept asking who this elusive character was!) Obviously, we knew the answer to this question before we even asked it, but nice to see Mr. Michael David McCready get the recognition that has been long due him. We are not worthy. Also nice to see Matt Cameron get almost as many props as Eddie - actually, it's damn nice to see recognition of the whole BAND and not just "ed-DIE".
